What do you do when you've simplified everything you can, asked for help, and done your best, but life is still overwhelming? Katie shares a deeply personal experience from her family's current medical journey and how an unexpected phone call reminded her what it means to release even the most precious things to Jesus.
Have you ever reached the point where you've done everything you know how to make life manageable, and you're still overwhelmed?
You've simplified, asked for help, gotten organized, and cut back wherever you could. But the needs keep coming, and there is nothing else you can take off your plate.
I'm coming to you from a very different setting this week. I'm staying at a Ronald McDonald House several hours from home while my son participates in a three-week program that we hope will help with his profound disabilities.
Getting here has taken months of preparation, and between our family's medical needs, repeated illnesses, time away from the people I love, and the demands of daily life, I've been struggling more than I realized.
The first few days here were especially difficult. I was discouraged, exhausted, and beginning to wonder whether we should just go home.
And then a dear friend called.
In this episode, I'm sharing what happened during that conversation and what the Lord has been teaching me about the part of simplifying that I am still learning myself.
I still don't know how these three weeks will turn out. But that phone call helped me see something I desperately needed to remember.
If you've reached the limits of what you can simplify, I hope this personal episode will encourage you to bring even the things you care about most to Jesus and trust Him with what you cannot control.
And if you would pray for my son and our family during these three weeks, I would be so grateful.
XOXO,
Katie
