When every activity on the calendar seems worthwhile, it can be hard to understand why home still feels stretched, rushed, or hard to enjoy. Katie shares how to look beyond whether a commitment is good and begin noticing what it costs your whole family before, during, and after you say yes.
Have you ever looked at your calendar and thought, “Everything we’re doing is good… so why does our home feel so full?”
You can explain every activity. The class is useful. The church commitment is good. The social opportunity matters. The appointments are necessary. Nothing looks wrong on its own.
But sometimes the problem is not one bad thing on the calendar. It is what happens when too many good things are trying to fit into one family life.
In this episode, I’m talking about the hidden cost of commitments—the getting ready, driving, transitions, tired children, pushed-aside lessons, moved meals, recovery time, and the way a one-hour activity can quietly take much more from the day than the calendar shows.
This is not an episode against outside activities or good opportunities for your children. Many of those things can be wonderful gifts in the right season.
But if your home has started to feel too full, this episode will help you look at your commitments with more clarity and peace so you can build a week your family can enjoy, not just survive.
XOXO,
Katie
